Shin-Etsu Polymer developed a new printing system for keypads enabling free digital processed design of printing on keys; intelligent advanced printing system (i-PAS) Conventional keypad printing technologies, including screen printing, coat printing and thin coating print designs with several colors as separate processes. These technologies restrict free design, especially in colors and configuration. In addition the manufacturing process consists of compression molding with metal in-mold. This is suitable for mass-production however not favorable to design changes and small lot production.

For cellular and automotive applications, the keys can be equipped with printings, providing an exact same appearance as the housing panels or interior panels, using Mille-tint Film.
